Improve Your Explosiveness


Plyometric training is a series of quick and powerful movements called the “stretch-shortening cycle (SSC).” It starts with an eccentric (muscle lengthening) contraction followed by a concentric (muscle shortening) contraction. This method trains a muscle to move from a muscle extension to a contraction quickly and powerfully, resulting in increased power and explosiveness (speed-strength).

Box Jumps

Box jumps are one of the main exercises in plyometric training or jump training. It has a variety of fitness goals, such as power or endurance. You can build explosive power and speed using a high box (30”), aim for three to four sets of 5 reps with a few minutes rest in between sets. As for fat burning and building cardio endurance, use a lower box (20”) and do three to four sets of up to 20 reps, resting for up to a minute between sets.


Once you gain skill, strength and power, you can use weight, dumbbells, kettlebells or exercise balls to add a little complexity to your routine exercise.

Safety Instructions



Because of their design, multi-height plyo boxes are less stable than regular jump boxes. A standard single-height plyo box has a wide base and a smaller landing pad (like a flat-top pyramid), providing natural stability to the item. A multi-height plyo box is cuboid-shaped because height is controlled by flipping the box on its sides. Therefore, the higher the setting, the smaller the surface in contact with the ground. Having this in mind, we recommend that:

  • This item be used against a wall or sturdy surface
  • This item be used on a carpeted or rubbered floor
  • The user lands in the middle of the landing surface as much as possible (when jumping)
